MailChimp vs Constant Contact- Do NOT choose the wrong one in 2024

In this article, “MailChimp vs. Constant Contact,” I will review both MailChimp and Constant Contact as a professional digital marketing consultant who has been engaged in email marketing for four years. My main aim here was to test both of these tools for six months and produce an overview highlighting the key benefits and disadvantages while providing insightful information on which tool would best suit your business needs.

MailChimp, easily recognized for its eye-catching chimp logo, has been a competitor in the email marketing game since 2001. With their eye-catching logo, they have over 13 million active users! How crazy is that?

Constant Contact was founded later than its competitor. Since the release of its platform in 2013, people with limited experience in email marketing have been able to enjoy an easy-to-use tool without any major complications.

My goal is not to encourage you to choose one tool over the other but to simply shed some light on what you should expect if you choose one of these two tools and whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced email marketer.

Summary of MailChimp review

Mailchimp offers a wide selection of integrations and excellent template options. However, there are some limitations, as a result of Intuit’s acquisition of Mailchimp in November 2021. The global technology platform acquired Mailchimp for $5.7 billion, and although Intuit has plans to integrate Mailchimp with QuickBooks to expand their AI-driven platform, there have been some changes made to the free plan.

I researched the differences between the free plan before and after the Intuit acquisition, and based on discussions in email marketing community social groups and the Mailchimp website, the number of contacts has reduced from 2,000 to 500.
That’s not all. There has also been some talk of reporting and analytics options being reduced.

I have been using the standard plan for about half my projects and in the past 6 months I found their new integration and generative AI features to be top notch. Their analytics dashboard is one of the best in the email marketing game.

Summary of Constant Contact review

There are other review websites that claim Constant Contact is a lower-tier email tool; however, my conversion rates from email campaigns have been steady, thanks to their platform.

This email tool best suits small businesses and is particularly ideal for those who are just starting their email marketing careers. I found their platform easier to use and navigate, resulting in a more straightforward learning process.

For those seeking to expand and manage their social media campaigns, Constant Contact is well-known for its integrations with social media platforms, allowing users to grow their subscriber lists and manage events with precision.

The downside of Constant Contact is that its pricing plans are relatively high, and its free trial limits users to only 500 subscribers. Furthermore, its cheapest plan ($12/month) limits users to one automation Constant Contact template, limited analytics and reporting, and no contact segmentation. Unfortunately, you will have to pay premium plan pricing to access all its best email marketing features.
